We asked the students to write a summary of the videos and articles in the following links. We also asked them to write any questions they might want to discuss with their classmates. Finally, we stressed the importance of reviewing their homework with their dad before class, to open an opportunity to talk on these subjects.

Tarea Clase 5

Hemos incluido algunos materiales sobre la fertilidad femenina a fin de que nuestros hijos tomen consciencia de ella. Los hombres en general no saben de la fertilidad de la mujer, sus problemas, retos y riesgos con los anticonceptivos.

Les pedimos a los estudiantes que escribieran un resumen de los videos y de los artículos de los siguientes enlaces. Finalmente, enfatizamos la importancia de revisar su tarea con sus papás antes de cada clase, para que dialoguen sobre estos temas tan importantes.

Tarea Clase 1

Les pedimos a los estudiantes que escribieran un resumen de los videos y de los artículos de los siguientes enlaces. También les pedimos que escribieran cualquier pregunta que tuvieran o que quisieran discutir en el grupo, con sus compañeros. Los animamos a compartir sus ideas y reflexiones usando el formato de «mesa redonda» (Tomando turnos para que cada quien tengan oportunidad de compartir). Finalmente, enfatizamos la importancia de revisar su tarea con sus papás antes de cada clase, para que dialoguen sobre estos temas tan importantes.

* Excelente video sobre la importancia de hacer ejercicio.

– Leer «La Teología del Cuerpo de Él» de Jason Evert.

* Este libro tiene dos partes, uno para mujeres y otro para hombres. Se recomienda leer todo, pero para propósitos de esta tarea, sólo se necesita la parte del hombre.

Los hombres en general no saben de la fertilidad de la mujer, sus problemas, retos y riesgos con los anticonceptivos.  En nuestra experiencia con la Planificación Natural Familiar, son las mujeres quienes dan a conocer a los hombres estos temas.

Students’ Feedback

What I liked best about this class…

– Reading Be a Man, being with like-minded peers, relaxed atmosphere and the lunch.

– Knowing Church teaching and why it teaches that way.

– This class had formation, not just information. It was fulfilling.

– It brought information to a personal level, it was also fun.

– Reading Be a Man and getting to know other Catholic men.

– I liked learning about my religion and how to be a man the way God created me to be.

– The straight answers to questions that were presented.

– I learned how to have healthy relationships with girls and family.

 

Things that made a difference in my life through this class…

– Taking about sex ans NFP, when to do it and why it is good. I never heard of NFP before.

– Learning why and what the Catholic Church teaches.

– Training in how to have a good marriage, how to view girls, etc. There were many real life applications.

– How to effectively communicate to other people.

– I learned about the harmful side effects of contraception.

– Being a good man to women.

– Being more open to becoming a parent.

 

What I found challenging was…

– Coming out of my comfort zone: discussing questions I have wanted to know the answers to for years. I finally learned the answers and they were backed up with doctrine and common sense logic.

– Homework.

– Transforming my attitude and my own shortcomings.

– Reading all the material ahead of time.

– Asking questions, because some of this stuff makes me uncortable. Certain things I don’t like talking about, but I learned a lot, don’t get me wrong.

 

Any other thoughts?

– Thank you so  much, Dr. and Mrs. Olivas, Mr. Whittaker. This class has helped develop my faith and inform my questions. I loved it and wished it was longer!

– It was amazing! Try not to squeeze so much information into so few classes.

– Maybe plan for some more time because we ran out of time some classes.

– A very solid class, it was worth my time!

 

Dads’ Feedback

What I liked best about this class:

-I liked very much how Dr. Olivas and Dan came prepared to the class and presented the material in such a way the boys understood it.

– I liked being part of this class with my boys.

-There are many, but the most important is that it showed my children that there are other people who think like my wife and I do. It also introduced my children to like minded peers.

– Just because I kno wthe material doesnt mean that I know how to convey it; you guys did, thank you!

– The whole curriculum (sequence, material, resources, presentation) was great!

 

Things that made a difference in my life through this class…

– That my sons were introduced to like minded peers and that the classes provided a basis upon which I can share and develop ideas with my sons.

– After each class, it made me realized how important these things are to me.

– It made me evaluate myself.

– I thought it was a great experience for my boys.

 

What I found challenging was…

– Dealing with the truth.

– I had some challenges in understanding some of the scripture readings.

– The amount of reading.

 

Agenda Clase 4

En esta clase usaremos una presentación de Power Point sobre la Planificación Familiar Natural que usamos en nuestros retiros de novios. Es simple, breve y al punto. Se encuentra en la sección de Recursos. Es posible adaptar estas ideas a sus propias necesidades y condiciones locales.

9:00 am – Inicio en el lugar de reunión.

9:10 am – Análisis del libro “Be a Man” del P. Larry Richards.

11:00 am – Ejercicio

11:30 am – Almuerzo y continuación del análisis

12:00 pm – Tema 2 “Consciencia de la Fertilidad e Introducción a la Planificación Familiar Natural”. Los alumnos aprenderán información básica sobre PFN, su historia, beneficios, hormonas involucradas y sus retos. Se expondrán los beneficios de PFN comparada con el uso de anticonceptivos.

1:15 pm – Tiempo de reflexión entre padres e hijos

1:45 pm – Reunión final y cierre

2:00 pm – Fin de la sesión
